Author's Pronunciation Guide: The Bridei Chronicles

We have no real historical guide to how Pictish names were pronounced, as Pictish is a dead language and there are almost no written records. Based on what we know of the culture, here is a rough guide to the pronunciation of the more difficult names for The Dark Mirror. I'll add lists for the other books later. I don't have the knowledge or the software to show these in phonetics, so I am doing the best I can with English equivalents.

Bridei: brid-AY (first syllable rhymes with bid, second is like day.) This name is sometimes spelled Brude.
Tuala: TOO-a-la
Broichan: BROY-khan (ch as in scottish loch)
Ferada: FERR-a-da
Dreseida: DRESS-i-da
Faolan: FEE-lan or FAY-lan (an Irish name)
Drust: DROOST (vowel sound the same as the word push)
Drustan: DROOST-an
Gartnait: GART-net
Talorgen: Tal-ORG-en (hard g)
Tharan: TAR-an
Aniel: An-YELL
Suibne: SIB-ny or SWEE-ny (another Irish name)
Uist: YOOST (vowel as in the word moon)

Eile: AY-ley
Saraid: SOR-rid
Áine: AWN-yeh
Líobhan: LEE-o-vaun
Dáire: DAH-reh
Dubhán: doo-VAUN
