Hi readers, and a big apology for neglecting you for so long. Life has been pretty busy, with two new books out this year (Beautiful and The Harp of Kings) plus the next instalment of Warrior Bards to write, not to mention quite a lot of upheaval with the dogs – I lost my dear old man Zen earlier in the year after a long illness, and little Pippa has also been seriously unwell. Beautiful is an Audible Original, that is, available in audio book only, and can be purchased from whichever Audible site you use. It has two covers, the one showing the queen’s castle on the glass mountain, and the one shown above for the Australian edition. I was thrilled to see this folkloric image, which was based on a design concept I suggested. The Harp of Kings is available in e-book and paperback and will also be published in audio book. It’s had some very nice reviews! You’ll find purchasing links on the relevant Books pages.
I’ve also been busy on the short story front this year, with two new stories recently published in anthologies. They couldn’t be more different! You’ll find my story Good Dog, Alice! in Wonderland, an anthology of dark fantasy/horror stories which all have links of some kind to Alice in Wonderland. Note: some of the stories, mine included, have some disturbing content – this is a book for adult readers. The publisher is Titan Books, and it was released in September. Wonderland is available online from the major booksellers, and will also be found in some bricks and mortar bookshops, especially in the UK. It’s available in e-book and paperback.
I also have a story in Once Upon an Enchanted Forest, an anthology of romantic fantasy based on themes of witchcraft (interpreted fairly broadly), the forest, and the autumn equinox. My story, In Wraithwood, has a young wise woman, Willow, as the central character. There are ten contributors to this anthology, which was released on September 24 and is available online in ebook and paperback.
I’ll be back soon with a progress report on the second instalment of the Warrior Bards series, which has the working title A Dance with Fate. It’s due for publication in September 2020.
